Bill Miller currently serves as Chairman of the Board of XAware. Miller founded StorageNetworks, Inc. where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Member of the Executive Committee, and Member of the Board of Directors, growing the company from its two-person founding team to more than six hundred employees, raising over $700 million in private and public equity financings, growing in three years to $127 million in 2001 sales. As CTO, Miller was responsible for the strategic direction of the company's service offerings, technology and software development. A graduate of the University of Illinois, Miller holds eleven U.S. patents.
Tim Harvey brings a rich history of experience to XAware. He most recently served as SVP of Sales and Marketing at S1 Corporation (NASDAQ: SONE), a leading global provider of enterprise software and services to the financial services industry. Prior to S1, Harvey spent six years with SynQuest, a Warburg Pincus funded supplier of Supply Chain management solutions. As President and COO, he helped manage the company's significant growth leading to an IPO in August, 2000 and subsequent merger. Additional experience includes executive and sales management roles with Datalogix (acquired by Oracle 1996) and MSA. Harvey graduated from the University of Florida with a BSBA in Finance and served four years as an officer in the United States Marine Corps.
With 20 years software, technology, early stage investing experience, Greg Carlisle has served on the boards of 7 companies and been involved with investments in 24 portfolio companies. Since 2002, Carlisle has served as a Managing Director of Gefinor Ventures, where he oversees the firm’s investments in Carmichael Training Systems, Metreos, Mimix Broadband, Silicon Navigator, and XAware Inc. Previously, Carlisle managed several of Admiral Bobby R. Inman’s private investments, which included serving as interim CEO and negotiating the acquisition of Intransco and JazzIT. Prior to that, Carlisle was Founder of Jones Cyber Solutions, COO of Ambac Connect, and a manager with Anderson Consulting.
Tim Connor is a partner with Sequel Venture Partners, a venture capital firm based in Boulder, Colorado. Sequel has $410 million under management and provides funding for emerging technology and life sciences companies in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region. Prior to Sequel, Connor held senior finance, development and operations positions with Access Health, an information services company acquired by McKesson Corporation. Connor joined Access from Lehman Brothers where he was a Managing Director in Technology Investment Banking.
Ed Ekstrom is currently a Managing Director at vSpring Capital. Previous to that, Ekstrom served as Vice President of the Intel Communications Products Group and General Manager of the Intel Utah Software Development Center, a position given to him after Intel acquired LANSystems where Ekstrom was a Principal. Prior to Intel, Ekstrom was a Vice President at CeriSyn and a founder at Cericor, which was acquired by Hewlett Packard in 1985. Ekstrom holds a BS in computer science from Brigham Young University and a MBA from Westminster College.
Paul Flanagan is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of VistaPrint, an online graphic design and full color, short run printing company. Prior to joining VistaPrint, he served in several executive roles, including President & CEO, at StorageNetworks, a data storage software and services company. During his tenure there, Flanagan was instrumental in leading StorageNetworks through an initial public offering and subsequent offerings. Previous experience includes VP of Finance for Lasertron, Inc., VP of Finance and Operations at Vitol Gas and Electron, LLC, as well as Ernst & Young LLP as a senior manager in the Entrepreneurial Services, Audit Services and Mergers and Acquisition areas.
Marc Holtzman, Republican candidate for governor of Colorado, previously served as President of the University of Denver. Prior to that, Holtzman was Colorado’s first Secretary of Technology under Governor Bill Owens. As Secretary, Holtzman is widely credited with transforming Colorado into an internationally recognized technology hub. Previously, Holtzman was President of ABN AMRO Corporate Finance CEE. He is considered a leading authority on economic and political developments in Eastern Europe and Russia. He was nominated by President Reagan in 1989 to the Peace Corps National Advisory Council. Holtzman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Lehigh University.
Johah Schnel co-founded ITU Ventures and shares responsibility for directing the overall investment strategy and oversees day-to-day activities. Prior to founding ITU Ventures, Schnel was a manager at SunAmerican, Inc., where he participated in the origination and management of $1.5 billion in corporate and real estate portfolio assets. Schnel received a B.A. summa cum laude from Tulane University, is a member of the steering committee for Caltech’s Partnership for Innovation Entrepreneurial Fellows Program sponsored by the National Science Foundation and is a member of the Technology Transfer Advisory Board at the Colorado School of Mines. Schnel is a UCLA Anderson School of Management Certified Public Company Director.
